Amd athlon 64 fx-51, the first athlon 64 fx processor, was released together with socket 754 athlon 64 3200+ (clawhammer) on september 23, 2003. both processors had 1 mb of l2 cache. internal frequency of the fx-51 was 200 mhz higher than on athlon 64 3200+.. Fx-4100 would be just fine and better than the althon. the althon i believe does not even have a l3 cache, where as the fx-4100 has a 6mb l3 cache. not too mention all fx processors' are unlocked.
